About This Site
|
Origin Phase 1 of the Pitt County Web Site was officially dedicated to public service during County Government Week, April 21-27, 1996. This is the fourth major iteration of the site. This version of the site was designed by a committee of County staff headed by Thomas Lynch.Maintenance Pitt County Web Site content is managed by the Public Information Office, with technical assistance provided by Pitt County MIS. Updates happen at different intervals, but at least some content is updated weekly.Technical Details It is the goal of the County to provide electronic information via the web site to all citizens, regardless of computer platform and browser. We attempt to present data in a format that is reasonably attainable to all citizens. However, due to the amount of resources available, we must set a minimum standard that will be supported. In order to view the County web page, you must have a browser capable of meeting the W3C's recommended HTML guidelines. The current recommended specification is for HTML 4.01. Additionally, the County web site makes extensive use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), in order to minimize the maintenance effort. There is a long-standing published specification for CSS, but not all browsers implement it in the same way. As a result, some content may not be displayed as originally intended, but should still be viewable by any modern web browser. The Pitt County Web Site is intended to be viewed at 800 x 600 resolution with thousands of colors (or greater), although it should be viewable at lower resolutions.
