Pitt County Government

The Capital Outlay Program was established in 1980 and is designed to assist local communities in developing recreation facilities on school property. Funds are allocated on a 50/50 basis with 50 percent coming from county funds and 50 percent supplied by the community. Projects such as: school playgrounds, auditoriums, walking trails, sports fields and gymnasiums on school grounds have been enhanced through the Capital Outlay Program. These facilities are available to students during the day and to the community during non-school hours. Since 1980, $760,019.00 in county funds have been used to match $1,952,131.00 in local dollars and in-kind contributions for a total investment of $2,712,150.00. In many cases additional work has been done on the local level which is not included in the project figures. To become involved in a Capital Outlay Project with your school, contact your school principal.
