Social Services sees changes to Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
LIEAP Program 2012 Information Update
Our purpose is to enable individuals to function at their maximum capacity, to become self-sufficient, to improve their standard of living, to learn to cope adequately with their problems, and to provide preventive services that will avoid family breakup and enable individuals to remain in their own homes. Pitt County Department of Social Services provides financial assistance and human services to all County residents who meet eligibility criteria. The three main program areas are: Income Maintenance Programs, Social Work Programs, and Prevention Services. Our programs are housed in two separate locations. To report incidents of abuse or neglect after normal operating hours, call 830.4141. Your call will be answered by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Department. You should ask for the Social Worker on call.

DSS BOARD INFORMATION
All DSS Board Meetings are televised and can be viewed by visiting http://pitttv.pegcentral.com. The DSS Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month (unless holiday or other event requires meeting date to change) at 12:30p in the County Commissioners' Auditorium on the 2nd floor of the County Office Building. To confirm a meeting date, you may call the Clerk to the DSS Board at 252.902.1061 or send an email. (Dates in bold below denotes dates deviating from normal schedule.)
The public is encouraged to speak to the DSS Board during the monthly meetings. Should a member of the public wish to address the board, you may call the Clerk to the DSS Board at 252.902.1061 or send an email. The Public Comment Policy requires the Public Comment Information Sheet to be completed, signed and returned to the Clerk to the DSS Board. The form may be returned by dropping it off or mailing it to Social Services, 1717 W. 5th St., Greenville, NC 27834 or faxing it to 252-413-1253.
