Pitt County EMS
EMS Division
|
Pitt County Emergency Medical Services (PCEMS) is the medical division of Pitt County Emergency Management. The mission of the division is dually focused on maintenance of the “County EMS System Plan”, support of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) during storms or other incidents, and the operation of a county government based service program. The Pitt County EMS System is a conglomerate of agencies ranging from private non-profit emergency paramedic units, to municipal and local government sponsored advanced life support responders, but also includes private for profit non-emergency providers as well as a hospital based specialty care transport program. This multitude of providers work in conjunction to meet the variable needs and demands of a thriving urban, sub-urban and rural community on a day to day basis. Additionally, the Pitt County EMS System is very resource rich in terms the number of stations and amount of apparatus dedicated to the provision of ambulance based patient care and transport services. Unfortunately, the pressure to seek fiscal self sufficiency without continued reliance on tax subsidy has burdened the system over the last few years and new and innovative financing measures are actively being sought to assure the system is capable of meeting the needs of its constituent users in the foreseeable future.
In this capacity, the division assures regulatory oversight compliance for the state, disseminates information to all providers as well as providing for a central point of contact for system coordination. The EMS Division of Pitt County Emergency Management directly operates two ambulance stations and one Quick Response Vehicle (QRV). PCEMS initiated services in 2002 and continues to proudly serve the citizens Pitt County today.
Licensed by the State of North Carolina at the Paramedic level, the staff is comprised of full and part time paramedics as well as a number of EMT Intermediate and EMT Basic staff. Division managers include two full time staff members who are credentialed as paramedics.
Always willing to serve and eager to interact with our community, PCEMS invites you to visit our station locations and our professional life savers.
