Annual Budget
Pitt County annually adopts a budget which governs the fiscal year July 1 through June 30. The County also updates its 10-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) annually.
Pitt County is pleased to have been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada every year since 1997. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communications device.
Budgetary requirements, processes and summary information on the budget and CIP are found in the links to current and past budgets. For budgetary information, questions, or a free copy of Pitt County’s Budget In Brief pamphlet, contact:

Citizen Involvement In the Budget Process
Pitt County welcomes citizen input in the budget process and all aspects of County government. The county employs various mechanisms to gather input to the budget process. On-line or published surveys may be utilized. The Commissioners budget workshops held in May are open to the public to attend, and a public hearing for comments on the upcoming budget is held in early June. A public address time is held at the beginning of all regular meetings of the Board of Commissioners for any topic of concern to a citizen. Input through mail, email or phone is always welcome.
