The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of financial statement users and must be published in an easily readable and efficiently organized manner. The report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable legal requirements.
The County’s CAFR is annually submitted to the Government Finance Officer’s Association (GFOA) Certification of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program for award consideration. Pitt County’s CAFR has met the high standards and guidelines to receive this prestigious award each consecutive year since 1990.
