The Pitt County Public Health Center is governed by an eleven-member Board of Health appointed by the Pitt County Commissioners. By law, the Board's membership must consist of a physician, a dentist, a nurse, a pharmacist, a veterinarian, an optometrist, an engineer, a county commissioner, and three members of the community.
