Route 1


   Route 1

  • Distance: 1 Mile
  • Description: Begin at Grifton School sign (main entrance to school near Queen Street). Walk west to McCrae Street and turn left. Walk 1 block to Queen Street and turn right. Continue on Queen Street through historic downtown Grifton. At Highland Avenue/ NC 118, turn around and return to school.
  • Area Characteristics: Sidewalks on Queen Street; Some lighting


   Route 2

  • Distance: .5 Mile
  • Description: Begin at Health Assist Building on corner of Queen Street and Pitt Street. Walk south on Pitt Street. Turn left on Main Street. Walk 2 blocks and turn left on Martin Luther King Jr. Street. Walk to Queen Street. Turn around and return to Health Assist Building.
  • Area Characteristics: Some lighting; Light traffic


   Route 3

  • Distance: .5 Mile
  • Description: Begin at Health Assist Building on corner of Queen Street and Pitt Street. Walk 1 block south on Pitt Street. Turn right on Main Street. Walk 1 block and turn right onto Gordon Street. Walk 1 block and turn right onto Queen Street. Return to Health Assist Building.
  • Area Characteristics: Some lighting; Light traffic

   Trail 1 - St. David Street Park

  • Distance: .25 Mile
  • Description: Entrance to park is located on St. David Street, just east of the intersection with Church Street.
  • Area Characteristics: Paved surface; Some lighting; Benches; Playground; Picnic shelter; Tennis courts

  • Distance: .15 Mile
  • Description: The trail is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Street at the Grifton Boat Landing.
  • Area Characteristics: Soft surface; Overlook for Contentnea Creek; Picnic shelter
