The Capital Outlay Program was established in 1980 and is designed to assist local communities in developing recreation facilities on school property. Funds are allocated on a 50/50 basis with 50 percent coming from county funds and 50 percent supplied by the community.
The Capital Outlay Program has enhanced projects such as:
Gymnasiums on school grounds
These facilities are available to students during the day and to the community during non-school hours. Since 1980, $760,019 in county funds have been used to match $1,952,131 in local dollars and in-kind contributions for a total investment of $2,712,150. In many cases additional work has been done on the local level which is not included in the project figures.
