Holiday Support Programs
During the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, Pitt County DSS work to collect and organize donations from the community, to ensure that the populations under our care have the basic living and comfort items they need during this special time of year. This is achieved through the following programs:
This program provides Christmas gifts for the foster children for whom we have legal custody. This program relies solely on donations from generous citizens and community partners, On average, Pitt County DSS maintains between 200-250 youth that the agency is responsible during this time. Without community support, these children would not receive the toys, games, and comfort items of holiday gifts most children get to experience during this time.
DONATIONS INCLUDE: Toys, gift cards, games, puzzles, coloring books, and monetary donations.

ADULT FOSTER CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
This program serves the elderly and disabled residents residing in Adult Care Homes, as well as adults under guardianship of Pitt County DSS, with many requiring care in facilities. The program identifies individuals in need and without family support, and assists them by providing needed items such as clothing, personal care, and hygiene items. Pitt County DSS routinely identifies "needs lists" for over 200 individuals in need each year. The program offers these “needs lists” to individuals or organizations looking to support those in our care. If taking on the “needs list” is too much, please consider helping by purchasing and donating individual items.
DONATIONS INCLUDE: Socks, t-shirts, underwear, hygiene items, monetary donations, and/or time volunteering of time to shop for them.
