After completion of the Pitt County Office Park Recreation Site Plan, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) authorized the Engineering Department to solicit bids for construction of the Community Centers at the Office Park and the Alice F Keene District Park. Bids for the Community Center at the Alice F Keene District Park, were received on September 25, 2023 and the BCC authorized staff to enter into a contract with the Hudson Brothers Construction Company for $7,380,795 to construct the Alice F Keene District Park Community Center. The Board supplemented the previously allocated American Rescue Plan funds with money from the General Fund to allow construction of the base facility with three additional large activity spaces.
