New Business:

  1. Consider and count provisional ballots: Staff presented 247 provisionals to the Board recommending that 53 be not approved, 32 be partially approved, and 162 fully approved. Of the fully approved only 161 would be fed into the voting machine as 1 provisional ballot was fed into the machine on Election Day by the voter. Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Ms. Mason, to accept the staff’s recommendation regarding the not approved. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded by Ms. Avery, to accept the staff’s recommendation regarding the partial approvals. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Brown made a motion, seconded, by Mr. Blick, to accept the staff’s recommendation regarding the fully approved. The motion passed unanimously. Partially approved provisionals had already been duplicated by the bipartisan team. A total of 193 provisional ballots were fed into the voting machine.
  2. Close polls for provisional and release results: After all provisional ballots were fed into the voting machine, the polls were closed and results printed. Those results were released to the public.
  3. Discuss 2026 Primary Early Voting: The Board discussed various sites for the 2026 Primary Early Voting plan. Mr. Driver had been informed that the State Board would like to see more sites added with a goal of one site per 30,000 voters. He suggested adding 1 or 2 additional sites. Staff were instructed to contact the Drew Steele Center, Willis Building, Simpson Town Hall, and Farmville Community Center to determine availability. The Board reviewed previous Early Voting turnout statistics and remaining budget to cover Early Voting expenses. Staff will compile more information for the Board to consider a plan at their November 14 Canvass meeting.
