Computer Technology Awareness (Initial Class Session)

Do you need to update your technology skills and become more familiar with computer technology? Learn the basics of how to operate a personal computer and become more familiar with Microsoft Word software in order to enhance your professional skills. This class meets every Monday and Wednesday morning through July 1. In addition to being free those who are unemployed, this class is also free for people who are working but have received notice of an upcoming layoff; or qualify for the federal earned income credit; or have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. Currently, 200% of the federal poverty guidelines are $24,280 for 1-person households, $32,920 for 2-person households, $41,560 for 3-person households, and $50,200 for 4-person households. Larger households have larger guidelines.

This course is designed to teach you how to answer those tough interview questions effectively and tell you what questions you need to ask an employer. NOT "How much do you pay?" Learn what employers are looking for and how to target your resume. The "Hidden Job Market" is the key to finding a job: learn some tried and true secrets to locate job opportunities, even those not advertised. Learn tips on what to do before, during, and after the interview and how to avoid common mistakes. Class is located at the NCWorks Conference Room (Employment Office). Cost: $75. Fee waived for those who qualify.
