[ARCHIVED] Pitt County and Partners spread awareness of Soil and Water Conservation District

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – The Pitt Soil and Water Conservation District (PSWCD) Board and Pitt County Staff have partnered with the Town of Farmville to establish PSWCD entrance signage. This is the first in a series of signs that will be installed throughout Pitt County in collaboration with partnering municipalities.

The Town of Farmville PSWCD entrance sign is located on US-264 ALT East.

PSWCD Board and staff are responsible for developing and carrying out a comprehensive natural resource conservation program in Pitt County. PSWCD works closely with the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and other cooperating agencies to assist and educate all landowners in the proper use and preservation of Pitt County’s natural resources.

“The Pitt Soil and Water Board is pleased to work with the Town of Farmville to bring these signs to the citizens of Pitt County. While the Soil and Water staff primarily works closely with farmers for food production, the citizens should know they can call on Soil and Water staff for support in preserving our natural resources,” says Leroy Smith, Pitt Soil and Water Conservation District Board Chairman.

The Pitt Soil and Water Conservation District is actively seeking additional partnerships within Pitt County. For more information, contact Pitt County Soil and Water at 252-902-1746.
