Pitt County Government closed Friday, September 30, 2022

Pitt County Government closed Friday due to Storm Conditions

Closure affects all County offices and some public services


PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Government offices will be closed on Friday, September 30, 2022 due to forecasts relative to Hurricane Ian and potential impacts on our area.  Offices will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 and operate on normal schedules.


Personnel assigned to 24-hour programs or emergency related agencies should report as planned.   


Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) has modified public transportation services for Friday, September 30, 2022 and Saturday, October 1, 2022.  PATS will continue to provide medical patient transports, but all other ridership has been suspended.  Normal operating schedules are expected to resume Monday, October 3, 2022. 


The Leroy James Farmers Market will be closed Friday, September 30, 2022 and reopen Saturday, October 1, 2022.   


All Pitt County Superior and District Courts will be closed Friday, September 30, 2022.  Offices of the Pitt County Clerk of Court, District Attorney and Public Defender will also be closed. If you have a criminal court case on a calendar for Friday, check with your attorney for your new court date.  You will receive notification of your new criminal court date by mail within 10 to 14 days. If you do not receive a notification by mail in 10-14 days, you can check online calendars at or call the Clerk’s Office at 252-695-7100 and press 1 for criminal court information. If you have a civil matter or a domestic violence court date for Friday, please contact the Clerk’s Office at 252-695-7100 and press 2 for civil court information. For information about Family Court cases set for Friday, please call the Family Court Office at 252-695-7287. Any documents required to be filed with the Clerk’s office on Friday, September 30, 2022, will be accepted between 8 am and 5 pm on Friday at the Pitt County Magistrate’s Office located at the Pitt County Detention Center, 124 New Hope Dr, Greenville, NC.
