NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY given that a Public Hearing will be held before the Pitt County Board of Commissioners at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the Eugene James Commissioners Auditorium, Pitt County Administration Building, 1717 West Fifth Street, Greenville, NC, pursuant to the provisions of NCGS 158-7.1, to consider economic development incentive appropriations for the purpose of aiding and encouraging industrial development.
This is in reference to an economic development incentive grant for Project Gen4 in an amount equivalent to 80% of the net increase in ad valorem taxes paid by the company for an 8-year period, with a cap of $1,000,000. The incentive would be contingent upon investment of $34,500,000 in real and business property, the creation of 14 new jobs in Pitt County that meet or exceed the County’s average salary, and the retention of 158 existing jobs at the Pitt County industry during the grant period.
The benefits to the public expected to be derived from the development project as a result of the incentives being considered by the County include: the enhancement of the tax base, retention of an existing industry and jobs, and the creation of new jobs in Pitt County.
The public is invited to attend the hearing at which time there will be an opportunity to be heard in favor of, or in opposition to, the above item.
