NOTICE OF HEARINGS

Pitt County Zoning Map Amendments

 

The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings on Monday, December 19, 2022, at or after 6:00 p.m. in the Eugene James Auditorium in the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C. to consider the following requests:

  • Rezoning request by Sawyer’s Property Management Group, LLC to rezone 22.38 acres of property owned by Sawyer’s Property Management Group, LLC and P&D Property Management Group, LLC from Rural Residential (RR) to General Commercial (Conditional District) (GC(CD)) to allow operation of the following uses: Athletic Fields; Coin Operated Amusement; Golf Course, Miniature; Go-Cart Raceway; Private Club or Recreation Facility; Sports and Recreation Club, Indoor; and Restaurant (without drive-thru).  The subject properties are identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Numbers 65951, 84426, and 86348; each of which is located on the western side of SR 1709 (Corey Road), north of its intersection with SR 1711 (Worthington Road) in the Winterville Township.
  • Request by American Materials Company to rezone 107.26 acres of property owned by William D. Mitchum; NRNS, LLC; and JK Properties of Pitt County, LLC from Rural Agricultural (RA) to Rural Agricultural (Conditional District) (RA(CD)) to allow the expansion of an existing sand mine.  The subject properties are identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Numbers 10812, 19208, 56789, 66597, and 84331; each of which is located on the southwestern side of SR 1403 (Stokes Road), south of its intersection with SR 1401 (Old River Road) in the Belvoir Township.

 

The purpose of these public hearings is to gather public comment and input on the proposed requests prior to consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.  Citizens interested in obtaining additional information on these requests should contact the Pitt County Planning Department at (252) 902-3250.  Those persons unable to attend the hearings may submit written questions or comments to the Clerk to the Board before the meeting.  The mailing address is: Clerk to the Board, Pitt County, 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, NC 27834.  All meetings can be viewed by the public on PittTV (Suddenlink Cable Channel 13) or the Pitt County YouTube channel.
