Pitt County Spring Litter Sweep
Call for volunteer participation April 15-29, 2023
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Schools joined the Litter Free for You and Me campaign efforts with a Litter Challenge for 4th grade classrooms. Students are encouraged to pick up litter in their neighborhoods or local parks during April.
Pitt County calls individuals, volunteers and civic groups to join the community movement and participate in the North Carolina Litter Sweep taking place April 15-29, 2023.
Managed by North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the local effort to pick up roadside trash is seeking volunteers! Residents throughout the county are invited to help clean up Pitt County’s roadways.
By registering through NCDOT, Litter Sweep volunteers are provided cleanup supplies such as reversible orange/blue trash bags, gloves and orange safety vests.
- To register, call Candice Flake at 252-439-2939.
- Supplies can be picked up from the NCDOT County Maintenance Office Yard located at 1722 North Memorial Drive, Greenville, N.C.
Following each litter sweep, volunteers should report trash bag pickups online at apps.ncdot.gov/LM. NCDOT will arrange the pickups.
“Pitt County supports the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Spring Litter Sweep. Pitt County encourages volunteers to get out and pick up litter during these two weeks in April. If we all pitch in, we can make a difference to Pitt County Litter Free for You and Me!” says John Demary, Solid Waste and Recycling Director.
