Pitt County Child Support Services Amnesty Days
Agents to work with parents who have outstanding warrants for child support
PITT COUNTY, N.C. –Pitt County Department of Social Services – Child Support Services (CSS) and partnering agencies are offering Amnesty Days for parents who have an active order for arrest related to a Pitt County child support case.
Amnesty Days will be held Tuesday, July 25 through Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pitt County Child Support Services office located at 203 Government Circle, Greenville. During this three-day period, child support agents will be available to discuss cases and no one will be arrested.
“The Pitt County Child Support Services Team receives ongoing recognition from the State for their stellar work. They all truly make a difference for Pitt County children and families,” says Sharon Rochelle, Director of Pitt County Social Services.
Orders for Arrest will be recalled for parents who make one month’s child support payment or $200.00 (whichever is greater). CSS agents and representatives from STEPPS (Supporting, Training, and Employing Parents Program) and the Pitt County Reentry Program will assist with this process.
“The Amnesty Project is being offered as a means for noncustodial parents to find a resolution to their outstanding order for arrest and obtain child support for the children. The dates were selected in an effort to offer financial assistance to custodial parents with children going back to school,” says Sonya Scott, Child Support Services Program Administrator.
Parents with active warrants are encouraged to take advantage of Amnesty Days to rectify their child support situation.
From July 2022 - June 2023, Pitt County DSS handled more than 8,821 court-ordered child support cases securing and processing approximately $15,094,216.43 in child support funds.
The last Amnesty Days event was held in 2017. To learn more, contact CSS at 252-902-1300.
