Pitt County Notice of Election

Municipal general elections will be held Tuesday, November 7 

 

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – The Pitt County Board of Elections (BOE) announces the municipal general election for Ayden, Falkland, Farmville, Fountain, Greenville, Grifton, Grimesland, Simpson and Winterville will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

 

Voters will be asked to show photo ID when they vote. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without ID.  

 

“Voters who lack an ID can get one for free from Pitt County BOE located at 1800 N Greene St – Suite C, Greenville, N.C. during regular business hours (Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.),” says Dave Davis, Director of Elections.  “Additionally, those who have not visited our new office may come to the last Open House on Wednesday, September 27 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.”

 

“Pitt County has launched an educational campaign on Voter ID on the County’s website, Facebook @PittCountyNC, and PittTV (OptimumTV Channel 13),” says Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager.  “It’s important that residents be informed ahead of the 2023 voting cycle.  Additional information can be found at ncsbe.gov/voter-id.”

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.  Visit www.PittCountyNC.gov/Elections for helpful links and resources.     

 

One-stop early voting will be held at the following locations from Thursday, October 19, 2023, to Saturday, November 4, 2023:

  • Weekdays, October 19 – November 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and, 
  • Saturday, November 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    1. County Office Building, PATS Conference Room (1717 W. 5th St., Greenville)

 

  • Weekdays, October 30 – November 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and, Saturday, November 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    1. Agricultural Center (403 Government Cir., Greenville)
    2. Center at Alice F. Keene Park (4561 County Home Rd., Greenville)
    3. ECU Student Center (501 E. 10th St., Greenville)
    4. Winterville Fire Station, Community Room (2593 Railroad St., Winterville)

 

Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who have requested them beginning October 6, 2023. A voter can fill out an absentee ballot request at votebymail.ncsbe.gov, or by filling out a request form provided by the BOE. The request must be received through the website or by the Pitt County Board of Elections by 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2023. 

 

Registered voters who live within the boundaries of Ayden, Falkland, Farmville, Fountain, Greenville, Grifton, Grimesland, Simpson, and Winterville may vote in the municipal election. Municipal contests include the mayor and members of the municipality’s governing board depending on the municipality.

 

Voter registration deadline for this election is 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023. Eligible individuals who are not registered by that deadline may register and vote at any early voting site during the early voting period. New registrants will be required to provide documentation of their residence.
