Pitt County Notice of Primary Election

Voter registration deadline for statewide primary election is February 9 

 

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – The Pitt County Board of Elections (BOE) announces the statewide primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

 

Voters will be asked to show photo ID when they vote. All voters will be allowed to vote with or without ID.  

 

“If a voter does not have an ID when they go to vote, they can still have their vote counted by either signing a form at the polls to explain why they are unable to show ID or by voting a provisional ballot and returning to County Board of Elections with their ID by 5:00 p.m. on March 14, 2024. Find out more at www.ncsbe.gov/voter-id,” says Dave Davis, Director of Elections.

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Visit www.PittCountyNC.gov/Elections for helpful links and resources.     

 

Early voting will be held at the following locations from Thursday, February 15, 2024, through Saturday, March 2, 2024:

  • County Office Building, PATS Conference Room (1717 W. 5th St., Greenville NC 27834)
  • Agricultural Center (403 Government Cir., Greenville NC 27834)
  • Center at Alice F. Keene Park (4561 County Home Rd., Greenville NC 27858)
  • ECU Student Center (501 E. 10th St., Greenville NC 27858)
  • Winterville Fire Station, Community Room (2593 Railroad St., Winterville NC 28590)

 

            Weekdays, February 15 – March 1         Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Saturdays, February 24 and March 2      Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, February 25                             Hours: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who have requested them beginning January 19, 2024. A voter can fill out an absentee ballot request at votebymail.ncsbe.gov, or by filling out a request form provided by the BOE. The request must be received through the website or by the Pitt County Board of Elections by 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2024. The following is a list of days on which the Pitt County BOE will meet (if necessary) to approve applications for absentee ballots for the primary. 

 

Tuesday           February 13, 2024         4:30 p.m.

Tuesday           February 20, 2024         4:30 p.m.

Tuesday           February 27, 2024         4:30 p.m.

Monday             March 4, 2024               5:00 p.m.

Friday               March 15, 2024             9:00 a.m.

 

The meetings will be held at the Pitt County Board of Elections office located at 1800 North Greene Street, Suite C, Greenville NC 27834. Other business may be conducted by the Board at this time.

 

Voters will select nominees for a political party to move on to the general election on November 5th. Contests on the ballot include U.S. President, U.S. House, N.C. Governor and other Council of State Offices, N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice, N.C. Court of Appeals, N.C. House and Senate, and county offices. In the primary, voters affiliated with a political party will be given a ballot of candidates for their party, if their party has a primary.

Voter registration deadline for this election is 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024. Eligible individuals who are not registered by that deadline may register and vote at any early voting site during the early voting period. New registrants will be required to provide documentation of their residence. Voters who wish to change party affiliation must do so by the February 9 deadline.
