The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 21, 2017 at or after 6:00pm regarding a request for a modification to a previously issued Conditional Use Permit. This hearing will be held in the Eugene James Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C.
The Pitt County Planning Department is in receipt of a petition from Joseph Briley, Jr., on behalf of Southern Land & Timber, requesting a modification to a Conditional Use Permit that was issued on May 22, 2017 for the expansion of an existing sand mine on property owned by James and Jerry Emmert, et al. The petitioner is requesting the permit modification to allow an additional 120 days to complete the restoration of required buffer areas that have encroached within 100 feet of the property line. The subject property is identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Number 22853 and is located on SR 1607 (Sheppard Mill Road) north of its intersection with SR 1550 (Satterthwaite Road). The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the Conditional Use Permit modification request prior to consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.
