The Pitt County Animal Services Advisory Board will hold a public comment period on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 5:30pm regarding a Proposal of a Comprehensive Animal Control Ordinance. This public comment hearing will be held in the Eugene James Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, NC.
The Pitt County Animal Services Advisory Board has developed a draft comprehensive animal services ordinance which would eliminate the current 4 stand-alone ordinances and instead offer one comprehensive ordinance for all issues relating to animal services in Pitt County. In addition to adding definitions it also creates ordinances concerning Large Commercial Dog Breeders in Pitt County as well as ownership of exotic animals.
This public comment period will allow the Animal Services Advisory Board to gather information from citizens before the recommendation is taken to the Board of County Commissioners for approval. Those persons unable to attend the hearing may submit written questions or comments to the Animal Services Advisory Board to the Animal Services Department before the meeting. The mailing address is: Pitt County Animal Services, 4550 County Home Road, Greenville, NC 27858.
