As of early April, 2018, Mark Nottingham, AICP, Planner III with Pitt County Planning and Development, has transitioned into the role of County Floodplain Administrator, after successfully completing the requirements and passing the exam to become a Certified Floodplain Manager.
On Monday, April 2, 2018, Pitt County Planning Development was notified that one of their staff, Mark Nottingham, had successfully completed the process and examination to become a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM®), through the North Carolina Association of Floodplain Managers (NCAFPM). NCAFPM grants this Certification only to those professionals who meet the requirements and complete a comprehensive examination on the programs and standards to reduce flood losses in North Carolina and the nation. The North Carolina Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM®) program provides a formal, measurable mechanism for training and developing sound floodplain management concepts and practices in those persons who make recommendations and decisions that guide development and mitigation activities. The certification recognizes their continuing education and professional development.
