On Thursday, April 19, 2018, the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce held their 2018 Safety Awards Banquet at the Rock Springs Center in Greenville.
Hosted by the North Carolina Department of Labor and presented by Nutrien, the event featured North Carolina Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry. The Safety Awards recognizes companies with no work-related fatalities at the site and an incidence rate of at least 50% below the industry average. Million-Hour Awards recognize companies for working one million man-hours, or multiples thereof, without an injury or illness requiring days away from work.
Pitt County was honored to recieve several of these awards for various departments, which include:
First Year Silver Award – Pitt Area Transit
First Year Silver Award – Pitt County General Government
Second Year Silver Award – Pitt County Sheriff’s Office
Third Year Silver Award – Pitt County Solid Waste
First Year Gold Award – Pitt County Animal Services
First Year Gold Award – Pitt County Detention Center
These awards further exemplify the County's commitment to providing a safe, efficient working environment for all employees, contractors and affiliated staff.
