The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Pitt County for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2017.
This is the 28th consecutive year that Pitt County has achieved this prestigious award. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements. This is a certification thatthe County annually strives to achieve. It is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and demonstrates a commitment toopen government in communicating Pitt County's financial results.
In conjunction with the Certificate of Achievement, the Pitt County Financial Services staff was presented an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) for theircontribution in earning the Certificate on behalf of the County.
