[ARCHIVED] PITT COUNTY - Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Hurricane Florence

News_Florence

In response to potential impacts forecasted as a result of Hurricane Florence, The Pitt County Board of Commissioners has declared a State of Emergency for all unincorporated areas of Pitt County, effective 5:00pm on Monday, September 10, 2018. Currently, this declaration does not mandate evacuation orders, implement curfew times, or prohibit the sales of alcohol, dangerous weapons or gasoline. Additionally, no areas have been identified as having restricted access to the general public.

As of the time of this declaration, Pitt County Emergency Management (PCEM) is actively engaged in the process of identifying and allocating resources needed to assist with and coordinate local response efforts during this event. This includes General Population Shelters, animal / pet sheltering options, and resource requests from state agencies.

Shelter location and operating hours will be discussed at a special multi-agency joint press conference on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 10:00am. This conference will be streamed live online at www.PittCountyNC.gov/LIVE
