With Hurricane Florence having now increased to Category 4 strength, and the high probability of a regional impact sometime late this week, the need for accurate, timely, and well-communicated information is paramount. Because of this need, Pitt County Government will be joining our municipal partners, first responders, educational institutions, and utility providers in a “Joint Information Opportunity” press conference; to allow for a central source of information to the media and community residents, regarding hurricane preparedness and response from multiple organizations.
This conference will be held on Tuesday) September 11, 2018 at 10:00am.
We strongly encourage all who can to view this Joint Information Conference, which will be livestreamed online at: www.PittCountyNC.gov/LIVE. In doing so, we strive to present a unified front in the preemptive protection of our community. Online or social media streaming of the conference from attending media may also be available.
Organizations invited to participate include ALL municipalities within Pitt County, Pitt County Schools, Pitt Community College, ECU, Vidant Health, Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, American Red Cross, and Greenville Utilities Commission. Although this event is being organized by Pitt County, each organization will retain its own autonomy and respond to inquiries from an individual perspective. This is a cooperative effort, aimed at providing a streamlined delivery of critical information to the media ahead of the potential impacts felt from Hurricane Florence.
