[ARCHIVED] Transfer Station / Recycling Collection Sites Closed Thursday

At approximately 3:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 Pitt County Solid Waste & Recycling was notified that the landfill which receives from Pitt County, will close due to preparations for Hurricane Florence. 

Because of this, all solid waste collection and recycling facilities operated by Pitt County Government will be closed on Thursday, September 13, 2018, with review for further closure as the impacts of this storm become better known.  

This includes the Pitt County Transfer Station located at 3025 Landfill Road in Greenville, as well as the 14 Recycling Collection centers located at various points throughout the County.

Collection operations will resume as soon as it is deemed safe to do so, and notification of the landfill reopening has been received. Once sites have reopened, notification will be posted on the Emergency Information Page of the Pitt County Website.

REMINDER: Collection information, along with all other information regarding Pitt County Government response efforts and coordination during Hurricane Florence, will be posted on the Emergency Information Page of the Pitt County website at www.PittCountyNC.gov/FLORENCE. This page is also available is Spanish at www.PittCountyNC.gov/HURACAN. These pages will serve as the most authoritative voice of information regarding PCEM operations during this event.
