[ARCHIVED] PITT COUNTY - Issues Weather-Related Travel Advisory

News_Florence

(Pitt County) — In light of the most recent forecasts involving Hurricane Florence, Pitt County Government is issuing a weather-related travel advisory, beginning at 8:00pm on Thursday, September 13, 2018. This advisory applies to unincorporated areas of Pitt County. Additional restrictions may be placed by individual municipal governments. Conditions will be monitored and this advisory will be adjusted as warranted.

Safety is a highest concern, both for those in our first responder and public services communities, as well as all residents of Pitt County. As weather conditions deteriorate, travel by any means will become increasingly dangerous, placing travelers, and those who may be called to their rescue at continual risk. If not done so already, all residents are strongly encouraged to finalize sheltering and general traveling plans now.

REMINDER: Travel information, along with all other information regarding Pitt County Government response efforts and coordination during Hurricane Florence, will be posted on the Emergency Information Page of the Pitt County website at www.PittCountyNC.gov/FLORENCE. This page is also available is Spanish at www.PittCountyNC.gov/HURACAN. These pages will serve as the most authoritative voice of information regarding PCEM operations during this event.
