TOWN OF AYDEN, OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
PROCLAMATION AMENDING RESTRICTIONS
IMPOSED DURING A STATE OF EMERGENCY BY MAKING
EFFECTIVE A CURFEW
The following Proclamation is issued by the Town of Ayden:
WHEREAS, the Town Code of Ordinances authorizes the Mayor to amend by proclamation the prohibitions and restrictions imposed as a result of a State of Emergency; and
WHEREAS, the damages that may or have been caused by Hurricane Florence constitute an imminent threat of damage, injury, or loss of life or property and there is a need to modify a prohibition or restriction imposed as a result of the State of Emergency or make effective an additional prohibition or restriction;
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Stephen W. Tripp, Mayor of the Town of Ayden, do hereby proclaim and declare that my Proclamation of Emergency dated September 12, 2018, is hereby amended by making effective an additional prohibition and restriction, necessary in order to maintain an acceptable level of public order and services and to protect lives, safety and property during this emergency and that the same shall be in effect until this Proclamation is terminated:
- Curfew.
1 . No person not exempted by this Proclamation shall appear in public in the geographic area described in this Proclamation between the hours of 8:00pm on September 14, 2018 and 8:00am on September 15, 2018.
2. This curfew shall apply to the following areas:
(a) The area within the corporate limits of the Town of Ayden.
3. The following classes of people are from these curfew restrictions in the circumstances indicated:
(a) Any police or public safety officer or other government employee engaged in official business.
(b) Any member, volunteer, or employee of an organization providing disaster relief services.
( c) Any person in transit from a place where he or she were temporarily engaged and could not have planned his or her departure to avoid the curfew.
( d) Any medical service provider engaged m delivering medical services.
( e) Members of the news media engaged in duties essential to providing public information.
(f) A person in search of medical assistance, food, or other commodity or service necessary to sustain the well-being of himself or his family or some member thereof.
All of the above classes of people exempt from these curfew restrictions must carry proper identification.
I direct that copies of this Proclamation be disseminated to the mass communications media for publication and broadcast, and that a copy of this Proclamation be posted in Town Hall. This Proclamation shall be effective immediately and shall remain in effect until terminated pursuant to a further Proclamation issued by the Mayor of the Town of Ayden.
