In an executive order signed October 3, 2018, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper suspended enforcement of the collection of fees associated with processing and issuing replacement vital records. This allows for local Registers of Deeds, at their discretion to suspend the collection of fees associated with processing and issuing replacement vital records. This executive order is effective immediately, and will remain in effect until rescinded or superseded by another executive order.
