The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) has issued an update regarding the North Carolina Wildlife Helpline and the service they provide. The statement NCWRC issued is below.
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) activated the NC Wildlife Helpline in April 2017, and since then they have logged over 34,000 calls. This service has been very successful, but the volume of calls they receive poses a challenge. It is especially challenging when a caller has unrealistic expectations for what services the WRC can provide. Many callers are referred to the Helpline from Animal Control and Animal Services Agencies, so the WRC worked with us at the Division of Public Health to create the attached flyer (see link below) which outlines what types of services the helpline can actually provide. It is important for you to know that the WRC does not have the resources to provide trapping or wildlife removal services to the public. However, they do keep a list of certified Wildlife Damage Control Agents who can hired to do wildlife removal.
