[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC NOTICE: Pitt County Zoning Ordinance Conditional Use Permit Request

The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 25, 2019 at or after 6:00pm regarding a request for a Conditional Use Permit.  This hearing will be held in the Eugene James Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C.

The Pitt County Planning Department is in receipt of a petition from Carol Peaden Brown requesting a Conditional Use Permit for the operation of a “sand mine” on her property as required in the Rural Agricultural district.  This request is subject to approval of a Conditional District Rezoning request that will also be considered by the Board of Commissioners at the March 25, 2019 meeting.  The subject properties are identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Numbers 49756 and 49757 and are located on Southern side of NC 33 West, northwest of its intersection with Martin Luther King, Jr. Highway.  The subject property is 67.07 acres, of which the entirety is proposed to be used for the sand mine.  Citizens interested in obtaining additional information on the proposed Conditional Use Permit should contact the Pitt County Planning Department (252-902-3250).

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the Conditional Use Permit Request prior to consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.
