 WIC MAKES A HEALTHY DIFFERENCE!

Do you have a child under age 5 years? Are you pregnant or breastfeeding? WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children up to age 5 years. The WIC Program serves as a resource for clients to receive nutrition education, breastfeeding support and services, and healthy foods. It also serves as a referral resource for health care or other programs. Here are a few tips for a healthier family:

• Eat low fat meals including more fruits and vegetables •

• Eat more high fiber whole grains •

• Drink less juice and sweetened beverages •

• Make family meals matter •

eWIC Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card is now being used in Pitt County. There is also an exciting new App to help make shopping for WIC foods simple, safe and convenient!

New!  During your WIC visit, enroll your child in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.  Children from 0-5 years old will receive a free book each month.

Applicants must live in North Carolina and meet income guidelines.  They will also be assessed for a  nutrition/medical risk factor. For more information, please contact 252-902-2393. You can also visit the WIC web site at www.nutritionnc.com.
