Planning Department staff attended the APA-NC Annual Planning Conference in Asheville, NC in September and accepted the recognition for being a "Great Place for Healthy Living" on behalf of Pitt County Government. PItt County highlighted the County Home Complex as a major destination point for citizens that provides tremendous opportunities to become healthy.
The County Home Complex for Pitt County includes the Alice F. Keene District Park with the Community Schools and Recreation Center, Senior Center, Community Garden, two elementary schools, Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum, Farmers’ Market, Animal Shelter and Recycling Center. The complex encompasses collaborative resources for physical activity, nutrition, education, county heritage, pet adoption and recycling.
