[ARCHIVED] Animal Shelter to Have Limited Space During Repairs

PCAS News Icon

Beginning Wednesday, May 15, 2019, the Pitt County Animal Shelter will temporarily have limited space available for the housing of dogs at the Shelter. This limited space will be due to construction work to complete needed repairs in the dog housing area. The repair work is anticipated to take between 2-3 weeks, as weather and staffing permits.

Approximately one-half of the current kennel area will be affected by this work. While under repair, the Shelter will have extremely limited space available for all dogs, and will not be able to accept owner surrenders. The already limited space available will be reserved for emergency calls and quarantine cases only. All regular animal services will still be maintained during this time, and no impacts to service calls are anticipated. Those with urgent concerns regarding animal housing can still contact Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) at 252-902-1725 for additional resource information.

This work will address recently identified repair needs to the existing facilities, and is not related to the ongoing Shelter Expansion & Renovation project. Public updates on the repair work and Shelter capacity will be posted regularly on the Pitt County Animal Services Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/PittCountyAnimalServices.
