[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC NOTICE: Pitt County Zoning Ordinance Conditional Use Permit Request

The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 17, 2019 at or after 6:00pm regarding a request for a Conditional Use Permit.  This hearing will be held in the Eugene James Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C.

The Pitt County Planning Department is in receipt of a petition from PSD of Greenville, LLC requesting a Conditional Use Permit for the operation of a “sand mine” on property owned by Jerry Ben Nichols and Elsie Carawan Nichols as required in the Rural Agricultural district.  The subject property is identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Number 16917 and is located on the northern side of SR 1562 (Alvin Road) north of its intersection with NC 33 East.  The subject property is 169.74 acres, of which approximately 24 acres is proposed to be used for the sand mine.  Citizens interested in obtaining additional information on the proposed Conditional Use Permit should contact the Pitt County Planning Department (252-902-3250).

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the Conditional Use Permit Request prior to consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.
