The Greenville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (GUAMPO) “Draft” 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) is available for public review and comment. The MTP establishes and implements transportation improvement strategies, policies and projects for the Greenville Urbanized Area (Greenville, Winterville, Ayden, Simpson and apportion of Pitt County) through the horizon year of 2045. This plan is developed to address the transportation needs of the region to facilitate development of a safe, reliable and efficient transportation network that supports all modes of transportation equally. The MTP is federally required to be updated every five years and is developed utilizing various data sources and public input.
The Greenville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (GUAMPO) is a regional, multi-jurisdictional agency tasked with transportation planning and programming for the expenditure of state and federal transportation funds. The MPO is mandated by Federal and State law to provide a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process in order for federal and state transportation funds to be spent in the Greenville Urbanized Area.
The “Draft” 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) is available for review at the Greenville Public Works Facility, 1500 Beatty Street. It may also be viewed on the Greenville Urban Area MPO web page under the Engineering Division-Public Works Department of the City of Greenville’s web site. Written comments will be accepted for no less than 30 calendar days beginning May 31, 2019.
