The Pitt County Soil and Water Conservation District board awarded the Resource Conservation Workshop Scholarship to Mackenzie Mills. The Resource Conservation Workshop will be held at NC State University during the week of June 23-June 28, 2019. Since the age of four, Mackenzie has worked with horses. Her essay, “Conservation is Key” displayed her interest in conservation and preservation of our natural resources. Above, the district board presented Mackenzie with a scholarship certificate for all expenses while attending the workshop. Participants stay on campus during this week of intensive study. The conservation subjects covered are soil science, wildlife, recreation, fish management, forestry, forestry management, soil and water. Exams will take place on the last day of the workshop.
