(Pitt County, NC) – On Monday, January 29, 2021, a Piedmont Natural Gas pipeline was damaged by a third party in Greene County, affecting service to customers located in Farmville, NC. This disruption in service has resulted in 1,400 outages to this customer base. The Pitt County Farmville Fire Station will be offering a Warming Station while Piedmont repairs this pipeline throughout the night.
Pitt County Emergency Management is working with the Farmville Fire Department, by offering a Warming Station to those in the affected service area only. The Farmville Fire Department is located at: 3713 N Main St, Farmville, NC 27828. This warming station is not a long term shelter. PPE and hand sanitizer, will be available due to COVID-19 precautions. Water and blankets will be available at the Farmville Fire Department to customers who are without heat. It is important to note COVID-19 precautionary measures such as social distancing and wearing face coverings will be practiced at this Warming Station.
Piedmont technicians will be working around customer homes into the night through early morning to make repairs. Updates will be communicated to customers on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
