Pitt County Animal Services Closed Until Further Notice

 Staff member tests positive for COVID-19 resulting in temporary facility closure

Effective immediately Tuesday, February 16, 2021, the Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) will temporarily close to the public until further notice. PCAS Director, Michele Whaley, was notified today that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 and immediately responded following COVID-19 safety guidelines. Only authorized personnel will be allowed in the facility during this time. Currently, all emergency calls will be processed through the Animal Control Officers. In the event an Animal Control Officer is not available, the public is directed to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 252-830-4141.

PCAS management staff acted quickly in response to this case; A rotating staffing schedule has been implemented to continue care for animals currently being housed at the facility; Individuals with scheduled appointments, have been notified of this closure and appointment cancellations; and no additional animals will be accepted at this time. PCAS staff apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused.
