The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 17, 2021, at or after 6:00 p.m. regarding proposed amendments to several development-related ordinances that are administered by the Pitt County Planning Department.  This meeting will be held Virtually.  All meetings can be viewed by the public on PittTv (Suddenlink Cable Channel 13), the Pitt County YouTube channel (www.YouTube.com/PittCountyNC), or one of the official Pitt County Facebook pages.  Members of the public can also call the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners at (252) 902-2950 for instructions on how to participate virtually or to gain access to a listen-only option.

Pitt County is proposing several amendments to the Zoning, Subdivision, Flood Damage Prevention, Addressing, Manufactured Home Park and Sexually Oriented Businesses Ordinances to ensure compliance with Chapter 160D of the North Carolina General Statutes.  Also proposed are several additional amendments to the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances including, but not limited to, the following: several amendments to the Permitted Use Table and Section 8 (Development Standards for Individual Uses) of the Zoning Ordinance; expanding the screening and buffer yard requirements for non-residential uses; reducing the time limit to establish a conditional zoning district; and several other amendments proposed for clarification and consistency purposes.  The purpose of this public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the proposed amendments prior to the Planning Board forwarding a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.
