NOTICE OF PRIMARY AND MUNICIPAL ELECTION PITT COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA
The statewide primary and municipal elections for Greenville will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.
One-stop early voting will be held at the following locations from Thursday, April 28, 2022, to Saturday, May 14, 2022:
- Agricultural Center – Conference Room – 403 Government Circle, Greenville
- Center at Alice F. Keene Park – Conference Room – 4561 County Home Road, Greenville
- County Office Complex – Pitt Area Transit System Conference Room – 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville
- ECU Student Center – Meeting Room #125 – 501 E. 10th Street, Greenville
- Winterville Fire Station – Community Room – 2593 Railroad Street, Winterville
One-Stop Hours of Operation:
MONDAY–FRIDAY April 28 – May 13 8:00 am – 7:30 pm
SATURDAYS May 7 and May 14 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
SUNDAY May 8 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who have requested them beginning March 28, 2022. A voter can fill out an absentee ballot request at votebymail.ncsbe.gov, or by filling out a request form provided by the county board of elections office. The request must be received through the website or by the Pitt County Board of Elections by 5 p.m. May 10, 2022.
In the primary election, voters will select nominees for a political party to move on to the November 8 general election. Contests on the ballot include U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, N.C. General Assembly, state and local judges, district attorney, and county offices. In primaries, voters affiliated with a political party will be given a ballot of candidates for their party. Unaffiliated voters may choose the ballot of candidates for any party primary.
Registered voters who live within the boundaries of Greenville may vote in the municipal election. Municipal contests include the mayor and members of the municipality’s governing board. These contests will appear on the same ballot as the statewide primary contests above. Voters can view their eligible contests and sample ballot on or before March 28 at https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/
The voter registration deadline for this election is 5 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022. Eligible individuals who are not registered by that deadline may register and vote at any early voting site during the early voting period. New registrants will be required to provide documentation of their residence. Voters who wish to change party affiliation must do so by the April 22 deadline.
