What documents do I need to bring when applying for Crisis/Emergency Assistance benefits/services?
If you are applying for assistance with utilities, it is helpful to bring documents showing that you are in danger of disconnection of utility services. You will also be asked to provide the following information in order to process your application: copy of utility bill, verification of income for the last month (if paid weekly, need last 4 paystubs; if paid bi-weekly, need last 2 paystubs; if paid monthly, need last paystub); and picture id. If you are applying for assistance with rent due to danger of being evicted, you will need to meet the following criteria: must have court ordered eviction papers signed by a Judge or his representative; rent must be 30 days past due; must be able to maintain; must have ongoing income; and must have an unforeseen circumstance to have happened to cause emergency.
