Pitt County Recognized as Clean Energy Champion at Statewide Event
Economic Development recognized for excellence in clean energy policy
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Manager Janis Gallagher reported at the Monday, December 15, 2025 meeting of the Pitt County Board Commissioners that Pitt County Economic Development was recognized as a Clean Energy Champion.
On Monday, December 8, 2025 Pitt County Economic Development Director Kelly Andrews attended the 11th annual North Carolina Clean Energy Champions event in Greensboro, N.C. Sponsored by the Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), the event brought together business leaders, economic developers, and elected officials from across the state to celebrate North Carolina’s continued momentum in clean energy growth.
Pitt County Economic Development was recognized with a Clean Energy Champion Award for excellence in clean energy policy and leadership in economic development. The award emphasized Pitt County’s support for clean energy economic investment and job creation opportunities.
“Pitt County is proud to be recognized for our work to advance clean energy and sustainable economic development,” said Andrews. “These efforts not only support environmental goals but also bring significant job opportunities and long-term economic benefits to our community.”
The recognition follows the 2024 Boviet Solar announcement for the $294 million investment in Pitt County that is expected to create 1,300 jobs over five years. This investment underscores Pitt County’s strategic efforts to attract innovative industries while strengthening the local economy.
