Ongoing Commitment to Building an Accessible Site

Pitt County is committed to meeting the U.S. Department of Justice digital accessibility rule effective April 2026. As a community resource, we work toward meeting and exceeding accessibility standards as defined by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA of the World Wide Web Consortium - Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI). These efforts help ensure the site remains accessible and inclusive for all. Staff monitor accessibility through automated assessment software that uses scans and manual evaluations. Our staff have also received instruction related to web accessibility and design.
