Pitt County Government Declares State of Emergency/Closed Monday

Schedule changes due to forecasted winter weather 

Pitt County Government will issue a declaration of state of emergency effective 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 due to forecasted inclement weather.  Emergency Management is prepared to open the Emergency Operations Center if needed.  Government offices, including Public Health clinical services, will be closed on Monday, February 2, 2026.  

The February 2 Capital Improvement Budget 3:00 p.m. meeting and the 6:00 p.m. regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners is cancelled.  A public meeting notice will be released when rescheduled. 

Cultural Arts & Recreation will close all facilities on Saturday, January 31 and Monday, February 2. 

Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) will operate normal hours on Saturday, January 31, weather permitting. 

Solid Waste and Recycling (Transfer Station and Convenience Sites) will operate on its normal schedule.
