Official Election Notices to Keep You Informed

Throughout every election cycle, several public notices are required by North Carolina law. These notices help candidates and residents stay informed about key dates, deadlines, voting options, and any updates that may affect how or where people vote. They also promote transparency so the community can follow the election process with confidence.

The County shares these notices as they become available. Some must be posted on specific dates set by state law, while others are published as soon as information is confirmed. Common notices include but are not limited to:

  • Notice of Candidacy – Information about who is filing for office and the official filing period.
  • Public Notice of Early Voting – Dates, hours, and locations for in-person early voting.
  • Absentee Voting Notices – Deadlines for requesting a ballot, returning a ballot, and updates on absentee ballot processing.
  • Voter Registration List Maintenance Notices – Required updates to the voter registration list under state law.
  • Public Test of Voting Equipment – Notice of required logic and accuracy testing of voting machines.
  • Ballot Counting or Canvass Meeting Notices – Public meetings related to counting ballots or certifying election results.
  • Candidate Withdrawal or Vacancy Notices – Updates when a candidate withdraws, becomes ineligible, or must be replaced.

Residents are encouraged to check these notices regularly during an election cycle, especially when preparing to vote. Each notice includes important details that help voters stay informed and understand their options.
