Recognizing the Public Servants Supporting Effective Government Communications
Government Communicators Awareness Day recognizes the professionals who help connect government and the community through clear, reliable, and timely information. Observed each year on the third Friday in February, the day highlights behind-the-scenes work that supports transparency, accountability, and public understanding.
Throughout the year, government communicators help keep residents, businesses, and visitors informed by explaining how local government works, sharing important updates, and guiding people to programs, services, and resources.
Serving Pitt County, the Public Information Office leads these efforts by connecting departments with the community and sharing accurate, accessible information across multiple platforms. These efforts include local news media, social media, the county website, PittTV, and other outreach channels that help residents stay informed and engaged.
